Montreal based indie-pop band Men I Trust came onto my radar this year. The three member crew records, mixes and masters all their music, including their single Lauren, released in 2016. Starting off with a strong baseline, the song introduces lead singer Emma Proulx's voice describing mother nature's strong pull which constantly entices her to explore what exists beyond her window. Soul II Stro by Stro Elliot
Introduced to me by my good friend Lucas, Stro Elliot mixes samples from the past into the future with his bass and rhythm heavy discography. A percussionist by trade, Stro brings in an acapella version of the 1987 hit Back to Life by Soul II Soul for his song Soul II Stro. After producing solo tracks for a few years following his time with The Procussions, Stro joined The Roots in 2017. Check out Stro below and thank Lucas in advance for putting me on to his music.
