Greetings from Barcelona and welcome to the first edition of my music newsletter!
If you know me well, it's clear that music is a big part of my life. I have always thought of it as a connecting force between people who may not otherwise know each other but hold a shared bond in their appreciation for an artist. As a kid, music was tied to some of my strongest memories. Today, sharing the experience of a concert is one of the ways I’ve formed some of my lasting memories with new and old friends alike – and it’s the best way to really expose yourself to the artist behind the music.
Over the last few years, I’ve noticed a growing gap in artist recall vs song recognition (recognizing a song but not recalling the artist), and my hope for this newsletter is for you to get to know both the songs and the artists behind them. You’ll find out where they’re from, what music means to them and what their sound is all about – and maybe you’ll even grab a ticket to watch them at a live show.
Each week, I’ll do my best to introduce you to artists I’ve come to enjoy listening to with links to their music (if you use Apple Music click here). Sometimes I’ll feature new music – sometimes it will be older. But my hope is that regardless, you’ll come across an artist you enjoy.
To kick off this newsletter, and as we start the new year, I wanted to feature three artists that I couldn’t get enough of over 2019. While there were artists like Summer Walker and Snoh Aalegra that dominated my streams last year, I think the growth in their fanbase was substantial enough that I don't need to feature them in this lookback.
Over the next few issues, you'll get to know each of the artists I selected a little more; but for now, i'll give you a sneak peak. Check out my top three below (in no particular order) and thanks again for getting through this first issue. I hope you enjoy them going forward.

P.S. I promise these will be shorter in the future!
